Ping Wedges News, Advice and Buyers Guide
One of the most well-known names in golf with a reputation as the pioneer and leader in custom-fitted clubs, Ping believes that there is a golf club for each and every player. This policy carries on from the research and development down to the manufacturing and even extends from their marketing strategy down to the distribution of their golf clubs.
While Ping clubs are available on stock, the company believes that their quality products should not be purchased online. In order to purchase the right club, customers are advised to call and speak to one of our qualified golf professional.
The Ping Tour Wedge has the new Gorge grooves that conform to the latest USGA regulations. The new grooves generate a more consistent and reliable spin on the ball for greater stopping power on the greens.
The Tour wedge is crafted from 17-4 Stainless Steel for durability, and features a tuning port in its cavity back for additional balance and forgiveness. This feature allows the player to make consistently straighter shots even from off-center hits.
Characteristically of Ping, the Tour wedge comes in several versions to suit the player's swing style. Not only do each wedge vary in loft and bounce angles, but they also vary in sole thickness as well to allow for the different swing angles among the players.
Aside from the Standard Sole (SS), the Tour Wedge also comes with a Wide Sole (WS) version for players with a steep angle of attack and a Thin Sole (TS) version for players who swing in a shallow arc or have a "flat" swing. Wide Sole is also recommended for soft fluffy lies and Thin Sole for firm ground and wet sand. Whatever the conditions, however the ball lies or however the player swings his wedge, one can be sure that Ping has engineered the right Tour wedge to do the job.
The Ping Eye2 XG wedge is an update of Ping's highly successful Eye2 line of golf clubs. With its no-nonsense approach to club-making, Ping did not see it fit to change anything about the club except the grooves. Retaining its highly successful and tour-proven size and shape, it now carries rule-conforming grooves for better stopping power and ball control.
The Ping Eye2 XG performs as well, if not even better, than its predecessor. It allows the player to make a variety of shots from all sorts of lies from full shots to small shots around the green. Even by its highly successful shape alone, the Eye2 XG is a versatile tool and a valuable equipment to have anywhere in the golf course.
Made of 17-4 Stainless Steel, the Eye2 XG is very rugged and durable enough to last a lifetime. It comes with a non-glare satin chrome finish and with numerous shafts to choose from.

Ping Tour Wedge Overview By Ping
Confident wedge play relies on two things above all else: control and consistency. With the new gorge grooved design and multiple sole options of the ping tour wedges you would be able to improve on both.
Its starts with arguably the most precise milling process in the industry. Because we mill the gorge groove ourselves here at ping we’re able to hold very tight tolerances to ensure you get the maximum spin. This is extremely important with the higher loft at scoring clubs. By managing the process and the tooling we’re able to ensure the optimal size and shape of the groove for generating more consistent spin and trajectories for confident shot making.
The tour wedge is available in three different sole widths that help fit your wedge to your game and playing conditions. The WS or wide sole has the most bounce and is exceptional in softer sand and turf conditions or if you have a steeper angle of attack. The SS or standard sole offers medium bounce and great performance from most turf conditions and for most swing styles. The TS or thin sole has the least amount of bounce and is most effective if you have a shallow angle of attack or play most often from firm sand and turf conditions.
To determine which wedge is the best fit for you consider your divot pattern. If you take deep divots the WS will improve your turf interaction and prevent excessive digging. If your divots are shallow the TS will help you get the lead edge under the ball more easily and impart spin. All three sole options have been designed to offer the versatility to open or close the club face to play virtually any type of shot.
The tour wedge has a traditional shape and features a custom tuning port in the back cavity that expands the perimeter weighting creating a high MOI. This geometry lends itself to providing a very solid feel across the face. Whether you hit the ball right on the sweet spot or slightly toward the heel or toe the feel and response are very consistent.
If you want to get your shorter shots closer to the hole with consistency the tour wedge’s gorge groove technology helps optimize spin and trajectory to give you the control you’re looking for.
Combined with the choice of three sole widths to suit your game the tour wedge will give you build the confidence you need to execute a wide variety of shots into and around the greens so that you can play your best.
