They were founded by Roger Cleveland in 1979 in California. In 2005, Cleveland Golf was acquired by Quiksilver, one of the world's largest manufacturers of surfwear and other boardsport equipment. Quiksilver sold Cleveland Golf in 2007 to Japan-based SRI Sports Limited, which also owns the Srixon brand. The grooves on CG16 wedge are based on ZIP Grooves technology, the envelope-stretching technology which features consistent milling of each groove to maximum conforming dimensions.
The milling from ZIP Grooves technology optimises the spin on each shot and the larger groove volume improves the contact with the ball. The RTG wedges are the most played wedges on tours. RTG wedge features a non-chrome finish which provides a more rusty surface resulting in greater spin, a very soft feel and less glare.
