The Best Spiked Golf Shoes for 2025
The Best Spiked Golf Shoes for 2025
There is an endless debate about whether a golfer should wear a spiked or a spikeless golf shoe. Some swear that a spiked shoe has more traction, but tests show that spikeless shoes are equally grippy.
This post looks at our five best-spiked golf shoes for 2025.
Our ranking system looks at the following: Style | Comfort | Fit – Size/width availability and boa fitting options, etc. | Traction – stability and grip | Price
All have a 1-year waterproof warranty, so although this is something to consider in spiked shoes (typically used all year round or as winter shoes), they should all perform well, so they are not in the ranking system.
1) FootJoy HyperFlex/HyperFlex Carbon Mens Spiked Golf Shoes
Features and Benefits:
- Athletic profile
- OptiFlex zones to allow flex and range of movement where needed
- ThermoPlastic saddle wraps around mid-foot, power stabiliser, and moulded ribbed knit saddle in the heel for stability
- Carbon shoe features a custom-moulded carbon fibre plate wrapped around the midsole for added support
- Low-profile soft spike design for traction and stability
- StratoFoam provides step-in comfort and is supported by an FTF+ midsole that is stiffer around the edge to balance comfort and support
- OrthoLite FitBed moulds to your foot over time
Comments:
- Sock-like fit and modern styling
- Boa and carbon are available in various colours and fits. If you are in doubt, go half-size up or wide fit.
- All the fit/quality/comfort you’d expect from a premium FootJoy shoe
- Carbon is a bit more expensive, but standard shoes offer a better value alternative – worth the extra is you want the best of the best but are not going to be a complete needle shifter for most golfers
- FootJoy golf shoes are without doubt one of the strongest ranges in golf.
2) Skechers Go Golf Pro 6 Mens Spiked Golf Shoes
Features and Benefits:
- Synthetic upper
- Podiatrist-certified Arch Fit insole supports your foot however long you’re out on the course and provides comfort alongside lightweight Eco Flight cushioning (at least 10% recycled materials)
- Softspikes in their Tour Flex Pro system, as well as moulded rubber grip bottom plate for traction
Comments:
- Skechers aren’t known for their styling, but these are simple and clean
- Hard to beat Skechers for comfort
- Limited colour and size options but generally quite a generous fit – not too snug
- A mix of spikes and rubber soles provides good traction.
=3) Adidas Tour 360 Mens Spiked Golf Shoes – Best for Style
Features and Benefits:
- Leather upper – easy to clean
- “INSITE” sock liner for comfort and snug fit
- Torsion bridge for lateral stability
- Jet Boost cushioning in the heel for comfort and more efficient energy return
- 7-spike outsole for traction
Comments:
- It can take a little bit of wearing in around the heel, etc, but jet boost cushioning helps for comfort when on
- If in doubt, go half a size up – limited colour and size options
- Tied with Traditions – These will give maximum traction and performance, but Traditions have plenty more options for colours and fit at a better price point.
=3) FootJoy Traditions Mens Spiked Golf Shoes
Features and Benefits:
- Full-grain leather construction – easy, clean and durable
- Classic toe shaping
- Lightweight cushioned midsole for comfort
- EVA FitBed moulds to the shape of your foot and provides support
- Built-in Achilles pad to prevent slipping in the shoe
- Low-profile soft spikes for traction
Comments:
- If you want ultimate performance, it might not be number 1, but the price and fitting options seriously boost this in the overall rankings.
- Classic-looking shoe if you like that traditional style
- No boa, but plenty of colour/size options and even spikeless if you’d somewhat – pretty true to size
- It has the simplest spike pattern and is relatively narrow rather than right on the edge of the sole – still good traction but maybe not quite the same as some of the others
- Tied with Adidas – these have plenty more options on colours and fit at a better price point, but Adidas will have slightly better traction and performance
5) Ecco Biom Tour Mens Spiked Golf Shoes
Features and Benefits:
- A blend of Ecco leather and modern synthetic materials – soft and supple upper
- Biom natural motion technology – balances lateral support from a low-profile design and snug fit with enough flex and range of motion to get the most out of each swing.
- A mix of a grooved outsole and spikes for maximum traction
- Phorene midsole and FluidForm Direct Comfort Technology – lightweight and great cushioning, energy return and shock absorption
- Washable OrthoLite insole for comfort
Comments:
- It is not the most exciting-looking shoe
- Limited colour and size options but generous and true sizing
- A mix of spikes and rubber soles provides excellent traction
- Ecco are renowned for their comfort
