Spin Pocket Construction (SP)

The Spin Pocket is the defining technology across the entire range. The SP+ is the premium tier of the Opus SP range, featuring a more advanced 3-piece Spin Pocket construction and 13+ grams of rear tungsten weighting.

While both models use the same Spin Gen 2.0 face technology and Shape 6 profile, the SP+ raises the CG even higher for a more penetrating ball flight and greater spin on higher-lofted shots. The SP+ is also focused on lofts of 54° to 60° where this technology delivers the most benefit, whereas the standard SP covers the full range from 48° to 64°. The SP+ costs £199 compared to £159 for the standard SP models.

For bunker play, higher bounce grinds generally perform better as the sole can glide through sand without digging.

The X Grind (12° bounce) is an excellent bunker performer and is available across all three Opus SP models. The W Grind is also forgiving of sand for higher-handicap players. The S Grind (10° bounce) is a solid all-round choice that handles both grass and bunker shots well. Lower-bounce options like the T, C, and Z grinds are better suited to firm turf conditions and less suitable as primary bunker wedges.
