Listen To Your Gut And Sink The Putt
Announcers hype everything and anything they can up. Don’t blame them for it, it’s their job, but sometimes the things they say misrepresent how to play the sport. For example, how often have you heard them, or someone who’s clearly taken their “common knowledge” to heart, say, “He’s got to give it a run!” In other words, it’s a long putt, and their in the thick of it- but giving it a run isn’t the right mindset. Almost everytime you hit the ball with that in mind you’re going to overshoot by some feet. Then you get stuck in that mindset of, well I can’t hit it too hard. So you hit too soft! It’s like watching pong on the green.
Take a moment. Remember what all golf greats know. Each putt is its own and you need to prep for the shot you’re about to make, not the some catch-all general putt.
