Ian Poulter “Hopes” It Will Be A While Before Captaincy

Although already 38 years old, Ian Poulter says that he hopes he’s got another ten years in him before he ever gets asked to be captain of a Ryder Cup Team, according to BBC Sport. The Englishman who is famed for his exploits i the bi-annual contest between Europe and the United States was part of the European team that retained the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in September.

Poulter has had a difficult season however, suffering from numerous injuries and falling to 26 in the world rankings. He says of his injuries, “to get those in succession, spread out over the season, hindered my performance, but at The Open I managed to start the rehab process properly and the last month has been quite exciting.”

As for the next captain, Poulter says there are lots of people who could potential be it, and is currently thinking that Darren Clarke will be running strong as a favorite when looking at the next Ryder Cup in Hazeltine.
