Wailing At Wintry Woes
If you truly love golf, and have a course that stays open, then you play during the winter. Well, even a lot of people who truly love the game won’t play during winter- and for good reason- it’s cold and many courses close for it. But if you intend to brave the wailing winds and wintry woes, we’ve got the guide on how to survive out on the frozen links.
Before you go out, make sure you do a 20-30 minute warm-up workout. This will keep you warmed and flexible fro the grueling holes ahead and helps considerably as the cold can kill your flexibility. Remember to bring extra tees, balls, and towels. Tees break in the cold, calls get lost in leafy detritus, and towels, well, you don’t want to wipe your nose with what you wipe your clubs with. Stock up with snacks and water too. Cold weather leads to dehydration faster then hot weather believe it or not, so water is a must. Snacking in the cold is like fanning your internal furnace- it keeps you body pumping the heat. And layer up! The last thing you want is frostbite. Find form-fitting warm clothing, like winter Under Armor, for example, to keep your body able to move and you from freezing.
