Swing Sickness- The Biggest Problem For Instructors

By on November 20, 2019

Golf instructors have an interesting ability. They can correct pretty much anything wrong with your swing and help you improve your score significantly, but even they can find some things that are almost impossible to do. Instructors agree, the hardest thing to correct is giving you club a sunburn. What does that mean?
Giving your club a sunburn is when the grooved face of your club is up, in the sun, as you come to the top of your back swing. It’s hard to fix because we don’t realize we’re doing- and it can cause the ball to go anywhere! It can go anywhere because you don’t realize your changing the position of the face constantly as you come down.
The three most common reasons (for right handers) this happen are: a faulty grip (too strong), losing the cup of your left hand, and a bad left wrist position. One of the best ways to fix this is to watch your swing in the mirror, or even have it recorded, so you can see where your hitch is.
