Should I Choose an electric or pull trolley?

This is the big question, and if you can afford an electric trolley then we would certainly say this is the best option. (Powakaddy Golf Trolleys are one of the best on the market)It has been proved that golfers that use an electric trolley do feel like they have more energy towards the end of the round when it is needed most and that the pulling motion of a trolley is not good for the body.

If your budget does not stretch to a motorised trolley, we would suggest the next best option is a push trolley that would normally have 3 or 4 wheels. This style of the trolley is certainly more comfortable to use than the pull trolley

Manual Trolleys

What is the best manual trolley?

You will find that the more expensive the trolley, the better it is to use. The wheels will tend to run much smoother, and the unit will be lighter to use. It can be a false economy to buy to cheap as they don’t last so long.

How big should the trolley be?

This will really depend on the size of your golf bag. When you are new to golf, and you only have half a set a lightweight trolley that costs just £20 will be fine however, when you start playing more often, you will really appreciate a better push cart. The majority of golf carts will fold up nicely, and the size of the trolley does not always have a bearing on its performance.

Should I have a 2 or 3-wheeled trolley?

This would really depend on whether you want to push or pull your trolley. We feel that the 3-wheeled trolleys are easier to use, so we would encourage most players to look at this first, but they do tend to be a bit dearer.

Are the trolleys easy to assemble?

Yes, they are very easy. Sometimes when you first get your new trolley you can look at it and think “How the heck does this assemble” but once you have done it once it all becomes apparent. Read the instructions, and you will be fine.

Electric Trolleys

There seem to be so many how do I choose?

There are quite a few options to choose from, and we understand that price is a factor however in the main you do get what you pay for. We can source cheap electric trolleys, but we would rather not sell these.

We find that the cheaper brands tend to come and go and the reliability is an issue. If an electric trolley is under £250, we would worry about the backup service in the future.

Should I choose a lead acid battery or lithium?

This again comes down to budget, and if you can stretch to the cost of lithium we would definitely recommend this option. They will last much longer, and some have a guarantee of 5 years, and when you consider that some lead acid batteries will last just over a year, it could be a false economy to choose the latter.

The lithium battery is much lighter so is popular with the ladies, and they will also charge up a lot quicker than a lead acid type.

If you choose a lead acid battery you need to look at how many holes you are going to play. We feel the standard 18-hole option should be fine for most players, but if you play at a longer course you may feel like an extended-range option will be a better option.

If you play more than 18 holes quite frequently then you will also need to look at an extended-range battery to get you round comfortably however all clubhouses have plug sockets, and if they need a boost halfway round, then charge it up while you have your lunch.

How long will an electric trolley last?

It should last you for many years. If you take care of the trolley and you do not abuse it or drive it into any lakes it should do you proud. We thoroughly recommend you take your trolley to the local service agent and have it serviced at least every 2 years. If you do this it will prolong the life dramatically and it does not cost that much for this type of service.

Are they easy to operate?

Generally, they are very simple to use but do read the instructions if you have a more advanced type of trolley with a digital display you may just need a moment to familiarise yourself with its workings.
