Jordan Spieth, The Next (and Younger) McIlroy?
After the 21 year old American smoked the competition at the Emirates Australian Open, it’s questionable whether he will become the next, and even younger, number one. Finishing with a course-record of 63 and winning the tournament by six shots, Spieth said his flawless round was the best he’s ever played.
The competition happened to be world number one Rory McIlroy, who tied world number three, Adam Scott for 15th. McIlroy wasn’t too upset though, he simply said it “just wasn’t meant to be this year” and even sent a congratulatory Tweet out about Spieth.
Spieth, who finished runner-up at this year’s Masters, is the first American winner of the Australian Open since Brad Faxon in 1993. With such a big win, we’re wondering if Spieth will start to take over McIlroy’s world-number-one glory, or if this was just a lucky break. What do you think?
