Golf Needs Jeter?
Golf is the sport of gentlemen, it is the sport that ought to be the model for all others when it comes to sportsmanship and philanthropic effort, but when you think of golfers, can you think of one who really heads the sport as a noble sportsman? Baseball had Derek Jeter, the man who, even when baseball was in turmoil, kept the sport safe by being a class act every minute of the day.
Golf needs that. Golf needs a spokesperson with class and integrity, as well as the style to draw people to it. Tiger Woods was that man until what happened happened, and some say Rory McIlroy could be that man- but he’s not yet and that’s the problem. Golf is in a slump. Sales and play are down, and though the kind of player is rare, we need that player now to restore the sport to where it belongs.
