Attention on Woods’ Can Help McIlroy
It might sound a bit strange, but former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley says that the return of Tiger Woods at the Masters next month could help divert attention from world number one Rory McIlroy. Woods is working on regaining his form in hopes of playing at Augusta, while McIlroy is hoping to take home the win to complete the set of major titles.
The attention on Woods might be able to help McIlroy focus better, as it did at the US PGA last year where McIlroy was the favourite but all the focus was on Woods. Woods missed last year’s Masters and US Open following back surgery after winning the last of his 14 majors in 2008.
Although Woods has made only two starts this season, carding the worst round of his career in January, he still has hopes to play in the Masters.
