Golf, Then and Now
Did you know that in the very first games of golf, grazing sheep were the ones who cleared the fairways and greens since lawnmowers weren’t invented yet? How about that the first golf balls used in the original Scottish game long ago, were wooden, and a wood shafted club was used to hit them around. Neither of which, were very efficient.
It is quite interesting to see the game of golf, then and now, and how the technological process has advanced. Cost has also come down, imagine paying £12 per ball and then hitting it in the water! Not to mention the fact that dirt and sand were used as a tee before pegs were invented, adding to the already uneven game that the sheep-manicured lawn created.
We are pretty lucky to have all of the advancements in golf today. Could you imagine having to hit around sheep, or worse, their droppings?
