Swinging Through- Daunting Distance
When golf coaches are doing their job a lot of times the biggest problem they notice is that people forget the basics. The hips, foot position, and all that need adjustments, but without the fundamentals of how to swing, all the adjustment in the world doesn’t matter. So before you rush off to get some help with your swing, we’ve got the basics for you.
First is to remember to not get stuck on the hit. It’s not about the hit, it’s about the swing. You have to swing through the ball instead of at it, letting the ball get in the way of an otherwise clear swing. Too often people aim at the ball, and that just doesn’t do it. As for the swing, without tweaks the basic is to remember HHC. Hips, hands, and club. You coil your body and release your force through your hips, then hands, and finally channeled through your club. Most importantly don’t decelerate. If you are decelerating, you may not realize it, but you are reducing the power of your hit even before you get to the ball.
