The Rumour Mill

The Golf Rumour Mill

At this time of the year we get a lot of rumours about what will be the next big product and we have heard of a few possibilities.

Cobra have recently been taken over by the corporate giant Cobra however if all seems true the marketing gurus did not have to do much when thinking of a new name as it appears that the new Cobra Driver will be called the Cobra S3 Driver I have seen a picture of this club and it looks good however nothing has been confirmed that this will be released.

I can confirm that Titleist will be bringing out a new range called the 910 series. They will have a Titleist 910 Driver and similar fairways and rescue clubs. I have also heard that they may have another ProV1 golf ball however this is not confirmed.

Thhe initial pictures of the new Nike range look good. Nike introduced the Nike Victory red (VR) irons last year and they look like they are expanding on this as they are having a new range called the Nike VR Pro II range. This will include the Nike VR Pro Blade IronsNike VR Pro Combo Irons and the Nike VR Pro Driver. It seems that these new lines are very traditional and the irons have a very clean look and I think these should be a real winner.

Callaway will certainly have a new range for 2011 and the only news I have so far is that they may have a new iron called the Callaway RAZR Hawk and a new driver called theCallaway Diablo Octane

Anyway it will be exciting times over the next few months to see whats new and i will keep you informed

Woods Coasts to his 71st Career Victory and Takes Over #1 Position in Fed Ex Cup Standings

Woods Coasts to his 71st Career Victory and Takes Over #1 Position in Fed Ex Cup Standings

Nike Golf athlete Tiger Woods charged to the top of the Fed Ex Cup standings after winning the third Fed Ex Playoff event at the BMW Championship and capturing his sixth PGA Tour victory of the season.  It was a vintage Woods performance having won by an 8-stroke margin after posting four rounds in the 60’s, including an awe-inspiring third round score of 62.

What has been described as the “perfect storm,” Woods’ third round consisted of near perfect iron play with his Nike Blades, evidenced by a tournament tie for fourth ranking in greens in regulation.  Woods went after the pins to put himself in positions to make birdies and eagles – a lot of them. For the tournament, Woods ranked tied for first and second in eagles and birdies, with two and 19, respectively.

An example of Woods “going after it” was during the third round on the par 5 ninth hole, where he hit his Nike SQ 3-wood 300 yards on the green in two to within 10 feet  for an eagle. On the same hole in the final round, Woods was behind a tree, was able to hook his ball around it and made birdie – dazzling the crowds again.

Woods averaged 306 yards off the tee using the combination of his Nike SQ DYMO driver and Nike ONE ball.  He averaged 73% in driving accuracy.

“I've been extremely consistent all year, Top 10'd just about every week I played and obviously had six wins,” said Woods. “To come off a knee surgery and to have this type of year, and as I said, to be this consistent is something that I'm very proud of.”

Woods’ victory brings to 10 the number of wins by Nike Golf athletes on the PGA Tour in 2009.   Other Nike athletes making it into the top 30 of the Fed Cup Standings are U.S. Open Champion Lucas Glover and The OPEN Championship winner, Stewart Cink.

Srixon Golf Balls - Challenging Number 1

Srixon Golf Balls: Softer yet Faster

There's specific equipment for every playing condition. The athlete always has to be his best whether it's sunny, rainy, muddy or dusty. We're not always playing on a grass field.

Though you think any ball would do, a precision golfing strategy requires efficient paraphernalia. You see the course is a plane with a consistent terrain. There's sand, green, and loam. There are hills, ponds and other obstacle which required your keen skills. And with these skills come accurate strategies to achieve your goal: hole in one.

Srixon Golf Balls

Srixon Golf is today's selling machine in equipment. They are infamous for their highly specialized balls each made to fit a golfer's game. It is available in four variations: AD 333, Trispeed, Z Star / Z-Star- X, and Soft Feel / Soft Feel Lady.

All Srixon Golf Balls have soft feel surfaces made with Rabalon® HR, which is unique for a golf ball. Each ball has multiple layers of materials all protecting the core made from resilient Energetic Gradient Growth ™.

The Srixon AD333 features a thinner and softer cover with a larger core. This structure enhanced its aerodynamics, gives a higher trajectory and 333 dimple pattern. It has a shallow landing angle in all wind conditions, delivering greater carry and additional roll.

Srixon's Trispeed balls are multilayered that delivers high performance with an emphasis on speed and velocity without sacrificing the feel.

This ball is designed to produce an aggressive ball flight in maximized distances. Z-Star and Z-Star X drive an unstoppable spin due to its ultra thin cover dotted with 324 dimples.

Lastly and the latest in Srixon Balls, Soft Feel Golf balls are ideal for a wide range of players, especially those with low swing speeds. The soft core maximizes energy transfer for greater distance and soft feel from tee to green.

Cobra ZL Driver On Trial

The new Cobra ZL Driver is being tested by many of the Cobra Staff players at present. The new driver is anticipated to be released either towards the end of this year or at the beginning of next year.

The Cobra ZL driver has a titanium face and body, but the crown is made from the lightweight carbon fiber. A weight plug--which is not adjustable has been put toward the back of the club to increase the moi, of course if you lower the centre of gravity and create a higher initial launch angle. Using an included torque wrench, the ZL driver will allow golfers to set the head into one of three different face angles – 1° open, square or 1° closed.
