Could this be the new Titleist Driver

On 12th May 2011, a patent US 2011/0111885 has been disclosed for golf club head with replaceable face. The inventors of this patent are from Carlsbad-based Acushnet Company, which owns the Titliest brand.

According to the patent, the new invention has come up with golf club head where a part of the face of frontal striking surface is detachable and replaceable. This invention will result in a thinned striking face with a thickness of less than about 3.0 mm and consequently, a golf club head with a larger sweet spot that's greater than 6% of the frontal striking surface.

So, it may be a matter of time and we will see this patent implemented as Titleist's new driver.

Below are two figures from the published patent that illustrate this invention.
