Tips in keeping your Galvin Green
If you're one of those lucky owners of a Galvin Green, here are some maintenance tips for you to keep your garments at excellent condition for a longer period of time. Especially in this economic crisis, it is not pocket friendly to always buy yourself one.
Unlike what most people think, these waterproofs are recommended to be washed frequently or at least after each game. Its basic water-repellant fabric, Gore-Tex, is washing machine safe.
Wash the garment in a normal 40 machine wash program. Never apply a fabric softener or bleach in the process. These can alter the water repellent properties of the material. The outer fabric of Gore-Tex is treated with an ultra-thin coating called DWR (durable water repellent). It penetrates into the fibers and into the fabric's surface. It ensures that water stays on the surface rather than getting absorbed.
However, and eventually, its water-resilience can wear out after a great deal if wash and wear. In case the DWR property of your garment lessens, you could purchase a special liquid, as suggested by Gore, the Imprenex Plus or Grangers. Simply re-impregnate the fabric.
It is also important that the garment is not punctured. Do not sew or pin anything on your garment. If you need to repair your Galvin Green, call a specialist from the service center for assistance.
